The Broken Blackbird Ensemble
James and David formed this group in 2004 as a improvising/free-music unit. The 6-piece also includes Fred Bellis (of Hot Snack/Acolytes Action Squad), J 'Chrome' Smith (of Evil Me), Andres Sottorio (of Bingo Jesus) and Lindsay Aitkenhead (of Tashbain/Big Eyes Family Players). Imagine if you will an arch-nemesis to Big Eyes and maybe you're halfway there; Similar instrumentation, but a very different sound.
The group released their first album 'Gadzooks!' on Early Winter Recordings in 2005. See www.earlywinterrecordings.co.uk for any further news/releases.

The Goat/James Green and James William Hindle
In 2005 James was invited to record a collaboration by folk-singer James William Hindle. The resulting recordings were a series of semi-improvised instrumental pieces on acoustic guitar, with harp, harmonica and harmonium, recorded in a single day (also featuring Jamie Crewe). The album was named 'The Goat', and released on French label Hinah in 2005.
Shortly after they were invited to play at the Music Lovers Field Companion festival at The Sage in Gateshead, UK alongside Jandek, Damon and Naomi and Charlemagne Palestine.
